What Shouldn't I Miss in the AI Era?

2 min read

New AI models, new technologies, new skills. Every day when I wake up, I can easily find a new trend, a new model, or a new tool. There are so many hyped AI trends that it feels almost impossible to keep up with all of them.

At the same time, I often ask myself:

I don’t have a clear answer to those questions. However, I believe there is one thing we should not lose: responsibility.

People working in a specific profession still have to take responsibility for the results they deliver, even when those results are produced with the help of AI. This is also one of the reasons why I write technical posts on this blog.

As you can see, I have tried to build many projects across different areas. I don’t want to be in a situation where my manager asks me a question and the only answer I can give is:

“AI gave me this answer. I don’t really know how it works, so I have to look into it.”

What I want to avoid most is delegating my own understanding to AI. I don’t want to become someone who simply approves whatever AI produces without truly understanding it.

However, that does not mean I avoid using AI.

Actually, I consider AI one of my co-workers. It allows me to explore areas that I might not have approached before, learn faster, experiment with more ideas, and improve my work efficiency.

But I still want to understand what I am doing. If AI generates code, I want to understand how that code works.

If AI suggests an architecture, I want to understand why that architecture makes sense.

If AI gives me an answer, I want to be able to verify it, explain it, and eventually take responsibility for using it.

I think this mindset will remain valuable regardless of how powerful the next AI model becomes.

As long as humans are still expected to work, make decisions, and deliver value to the market, understanding and responsibility will continue to matter.
